One of the ways to help build confidence after a setback is to learn a new skill. Whether you’re looking for a way to prepare your family for the future, need a skill to expand your career opportunities, or are looking to support your kiddo’s latest fascination, low-cost learning opportunities are available.

Go to college. Online. For free.
Big name universities offer some free access to a variety of courses. Check out EDx for a list of schools with free online courses and browse courses and programs. Whether you need to refresh skills in your field or learn something entirely new, chances are what you need is here.

Go to community college.
Your local community college can help you refresh, improve, or gain new skills. Check the community college near you for free or low cost continuing education courses and career training programs. Whether in-person or online, these programs often suit the schedules of busy professionals looking for career advancement.

Go to the library. It’s more than just books.
Your local public library is a great option, especially when you’re looking for enrichment activities for the kids. You’ll find storytimes, of course, it’s a library! These days, though, books are just the beginning. Look for activities related to whatever your kid is interested in: crafts, coding, rocket launches, computer gaming. If they need help with school, you can likely find after school and local tutoring options. Join or subscribe to your local public library newsletter to get regular updates on their offerings.
